I am a qualified speech and language therapist with a B.A (Hons) in English with Education (University of York 1981) and a Post-Graduate diploma in Clinical Communication Studies (City University 1984). After practising as a speech and language therapist in Liverpool and then London, I joined Gloucestershire Care Services Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Services where I worked from 2002 till 2016. My post included supporting children in schools throughout the County as well as working with pre-schoolers and their families.
I have a wealth of experience of delivering training to adults including setting up and running a course on Child Language Acquisition at Redbridge Technical College, and 5 years as a Tutor for the Open University.
I worked with the Gloucestershire Advisory Teaching Service (ATS) as a Course Tutor for the OLTUK Online Training/Learning Together) Speech, Language and Communication Needs course for primary school practitioners in Gloucestershire for 9 years. I very much enjoyed this role and felt that training practitioners in schools was a really effective way of supporting children to develop their language and communication skills.
I have been a licensed Talk Boost Tutor since July 2012 and have delivered the Talk Boost KS1 training to primary schools throughout the County in conjunction with the Gloucestershire Advisory Teaching Service.
The feedback from schools who used the Talk Boost KS1 programme was so positive that I went on to do the training for Early years and Key Stage 2 Talk Boost.
I am now a Licensed Tutor for all 3 of the ICAN Talk Boost courses.
